Long track names
« on: 12 Nov 2012, 12:17 am »
Dear James,

As my diet consists of mostly classical music, the names of my tracks, as defined by DBPoweramp imported metadata, tend to be very long.
In these cases the display of my BDP displays something like Array[6$4$%54637208%%73474].

I Know there is a limit to the number of asci's that can be displayed, but just showing the first 20-30 (do not know the exact limit) would be more helpful. You might even consider showing them all and allowing the user to browse the text using the left-right arrows.

So far I just use the hardware interface to navigate two 1Tb passports. Works like a treat, after I have made some adjustments to the structure and logic of my folder system. Would like to see the names of the tracks however and, after ripping some 2000 CD’s, would not like to shorten all track names manually.

Cheers,
Bob

Perhaps the issue has been previously discussed elsewhere?

HI Bob,

Indeed some previous contributors made related remarks, and asked Chris to adjust BDP1's display to show longer tracknames and filter out the funny-characters. Im one of those...

A scrolling display on the front panel would resolve those issues, Im not sure which status that request has. Your browsing-option could be too.
Chris did change the way it shows in Max2, with popups etc. That works very well now.

Your specific erroneous asci's issue is something new I think, haven't seen that before, other than discrepancies between the various operating systems.

Im still puzzled why sometimes all computers (finder/mac, explorer/windows, Mpod/Mpad) show filenames correctly, but MAx doesn't... Must have to do with the tagging, but there are so many variables, finding out can be a real pain.

Good luck, and please keep posting your findings,

Marius
