..And FOR THE RECORD... that Ang Lee Hulk Movie was amazing. No need to restart.

Just saw Avengers last weekend. It was good. Hulk and Iron Man made the show. Is there anything iron man in his suit cant do?? I was lol when Hulk banged Loki back and forth towards the end.

The rebooting drives me nuts too. How many times do I need to see the origin of Spider-Man? I understand getting new actors, directors, etc. That's going to happen. But how about we pick it up in the middle? It doesn't even need to have continuity with the previous movies with the different director and cast. Just don't tell the origin story again as I'm rather tired of it.

I really thought the spider man reboot was a terrible idea. But honestly, I thought it was very well done. I liked that it felt a bit more realistic than the toby maguire films. I really had no interest in this movie at all, but it entertained me and I even find myself looking forward to the next one. I loved the casting, especially. I think many of the superhero films have been pretty fun....I like that they're churning them out.

The best thing about the Superman reboot next year will be Michael Shannon as General Zod. I have become a huge fan of this guy, especially after seeing "Bug" and "Take Shelter". He's a fantastic actor who can really dial up the intensity. He'll be a great villain. I don't know much at all about Henry Cavill, but I'm willing to give him a shot. I thought the last Superman film was average to below average.

I'm with you AJ, I'm lovin' the Superhero reboots with today's computerized special effects and especially the 3D on the big screen. I'm really looking forward to yet another Superman movie myself.

For whose who are having head issues with all these redo flicks, simply don't go see them! An easy-peasey solution for at least 1 of your "nuts" issues.

Wait, you think it's okay to come out with big budget Superman "1", and then come out with big budget Superman "1" again 5 years later? Same with Spiderman, Hulk...etc? Now that's truly nuts

I think the SM reboot was a must-do for Sony or else the rights would revert back to Marvel. I agree they should have picked up where the last one left off but I bet that would have meant paying out Sam Raimi to some extent and they figured best to just start over. They're just going to kill a golden goose; Disney and Marvel just do everything better.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Man of Steel. Nolan's involvement is the only thing keeping me interested. Cool-ass trailer though... and yes big thumbs up to Michael Shannon.

You guys should just stick to your Starsky & Hutch reruns on Tuesday and Columbo on Thursday(LOL)

I love this new Marvel series personally,much better stuff than Tim Burtons demise of Batman.

Superman Returns was not a wholesale reboot. It was an alternate sequel to Superman I and II. Which is a pretty good idea given how bad Superman III, IV, etc were.

Come to think of it, maybe the only thing I'm disappointed about is Spider-Man. I agree that the new Spider-Man is better, I'm just not sure it needed to re-tell the origin story again. New stories please!

Oh yeah, back in the day when bullets would bounce off Superman's chest yet he'd still duck the gun when the shooter would throw it at him in frustration, see here. And all done in good ole black n' white.

P.S. Michael Shannon is the actor who plays Nelson in Boardwalk Empire, fyi, and he's fixin to get his hands even dirtier.

You can continue a series without rebooting it (see Aliens, which shared with Alien only that one actor was reused).
You can continue a series with new actors (See the last Superman movie which continued from Superman 2)

I think a reboot is appropriate when the old material is flawed, dated, or you wish to do a significant overhaul of the premise (Batman Begins (overhaul), 2002 Spiderman (all of the above), BattleStar Galactica (premise change), etc).

While the actors will age out of roles, and directors will want to move on; they can be replaced shy of a reboot (DelToro did an excellent job taking the reigns of Hellboy).

While I have serious issues with the StarTrek reboot: I think a reboot of TOS was a more appropriate choice than a continuation of it from where the 1960s series ended.

Though technically, I'm not sure it's a reboot. It's an alternate timeline spawned in cannon.
