Vinnie,
This is just a simplistic model to show how much approximate storage capacitance is being offered in a battery.  They are not the same, but it gives an idea of what batteries are like when asked to compare them to a capacitance bank, as was asked earlier in the thread.

If you have a better comparison idea, that would be great.  This was meant to stimulate a conversation for teaching folks about the subject.

The dynamics and 'grab' are a little lower for amplifiers that are battery powered, for me. Others like the sound.

I've enjoyed a DAC that was battery powered. In fact really cheap ass DAC's can sound way better than you thought they would.

Is it possible to change the impedance to some degree by using transformers and capacitors? I'm thinking you could make a Felicia styled device.

Dave and Vinnie,

What is reaction noise in a Battery System?   Where is the noise originated?

In lead/acid batteries it is called sulfation noise and is very, very low.  It is the sound of the chemical reaction that produces the volatge from the battery.  There can also be noise components introduced when the internal connections connecting the cells is poor resulting in the formation of salts or oxides depositing on them and creating a diode effect.  Any time electricity crosses a semiconductor boundary (junction) there is a small amount of noise generated.  Noise of one type or another is a byproduct of every reaction.
