Integrating a sub for 2-channel

Hello....

I have a project that I'm giving thought to, but not sure what my options are.

I have a set of Apogee Calipers and I want to integrate a sub. I want to filter the low frequencies sent to the speakers to take a bit of load off the bass panels.

I understand that I can do this by running the main speaker wires to the sub, selecting the filter, then taking the speaker wires back to the main speakers. But that's a lot of wire and just isn't practical given that the sub would be 16' away from the farthest speaker.

What I'm wondering is if there's a way to accomplish the same using preamp/sub ins and outs.

I have a CJ200 integrated amp with a processor in/out and a theater in/out. Is there some way of hooking it up so that I take a pre out to the sub, it is filtered, then goes back to an input on the integrated amp and gives me a filtered signal for driving the main speakers?

I'm new to HT and all this high pass / low pass, EPL1 EPL2 loops and what have you are quite foreign to me.

I am flexible at this stage with choice of subs, so if one were able to function in the above way then I'd appreciate knowing about it !!

Cheers :o

Disclaimer: I am not familiar with the CJ200 integrated. The Conrad Johnson CA200 doesn't appear to be what you are referring to as I don't see that it has pre-outs.

Is this a 2-channel amp or a 5-channel amp? Can you post a pic of the back or a link to the manufacturer's site?
