plinth & parts - Acoustic Solid Classic Wood
« on: 3 Nov 2012, 08:28 pm »
Up for sale is a plinth from an Acoustic Solid Classic Wood turntable. It is made of MDF with cherry veneer. Included is the plinth, the alumiunum feet, and a variety of custom parts that I had made for it.

The plinth is 14-1/2” x 18-1/2” x 1-1/2” thick, and the feet are about 2” high.

The plinth has a single bolt clamp for the tonearm mount, with a clearance hole. I had a custom tonearm mount machined from a solid billet of 6061 aluminum. This mount is for a standard Rega threaded post. I also had another custom tonearm machined from Delrin. This mount uses the standard 3 hole Linn mount. Both of these are attached with a 5 mm socket head cap screw. I will include a 5 x 20 mm stainless steel screw.

I will also include a custom spindle. The support for this spindle is machined from Delrin, with a 3-hole mounting pattern to match the plinth (mounting screws included). The support has a hardened ½” dowel pin pressed in place. I used this with a ball bearing to create a bastard inverted bearing for a VPI Scout platter (available for sale in a separate listing). I will include two different size ball bearings. And, for those of you who want to use a different platter, I am enclosing a brand new sintered bronze bearing. (McMaster part number 6391K201).

I have used this plinth for a number of custom turntables I’ve assembled. You can see them on the album titled Turntable Chronicles on my flickr account:

You can see detailed pictures of the parts icluded with this sale as well. Add a platter, a motor and a tonearm and you will have everything you need to build your own custom turntable.
