Before I ripped my CDs, I too thought I'd miss the jewel cases and all the stuff that comes with them, so I kept my CDs in the room and on the racks where they were after I ripped them.
I honestly didn't pick them up and look at them. When I moved a few months later, I packed them up and put the boxes in a very accessible spot in the basement. Didn't take a single one out in the year and a half I lived there. I moved again, and still haven't taken a single one out.
2 things probably keep me away from them - I have some vinyl, and always have that in my lap when I spin vinyl, and I use a gen 1 Apple TV as my music server. I see the album art on either my TV or my iPhone (acts as a remote for the ATV) when an album is selected.
I look at the album art and liner notes the first time or two that I listen to a new CD. After that, I lose interest lately.
The best advice I have is rip your stuff, and keep the jewel boxes around for a little while. If you find yourself still handling the cases, keep looking into how you can still easily access them without them being all over. If you're not using them, box them up and store them somewhere safe. Just don't get rid of them, as theyre a physical backup in case anything happens.
