Bryston BP25 voltage

Bryston BP25 voltage

Hi,

I will soon have a Bryston BP25 with 120V 60Hz power supply bought from Canada. I intend to use it in Europe, where, there is 230V 50Hz, using a 500W transformer from 230V to 120V.

Will the sound be exactly the same as if I was using a 230V Bryston power supply? Will I need to buy the Bryston 230V power supply? What do you think?

You may get some mechanical buzzing due to the 60Hz transformer in a 50Hz setup.

Is it possible to send the power supply to the local Bryston dealership to change it to 230V?

It depends on the distributor - where are you located?

I moved all my US gear to New Zealand 4 years ago so had a similar situation.

I found that while there was no inherent change in the sound reproduction (using high end stepdown transformers from  Ben Duncan)   I did need to plug my BP26-DA into a PS Audio PS500 to eliminate a slight buzz from the power supply I heard  in my dedicated/treated room.

This buzz didnt enter the reproduction chain but was annoying. I have all my digitial gear,  turntable and BP26-DA running off a couple of PS Audio P500's
