Ribbons on 3 series maggies
« on: 14 Oct 2012, 03:23 pm »
Is there anyone out there that is bothered by the way to ribbon is wired. There is one short lead at the bottom and a long lead (5ft longer) to the top.  When I once had Vandersteens, Richard went balistic when I told him I rewired his speakers with better quailty wire and he went into this long discussion on why it is so important that the wires to all drivers must be exactly the same lenght, that fractions of an inch matter.
Just wanted to drop this thought.

It's a series circuit.  If the necessary wiring was twenty feet long, it wouldn't matter if you had 10/10 feet distribution on either side of the transducer or 19/1.........all other things being equal.
The comment from Vandersteen is nonsense.

Cheers,

Dave.
