How to test output transformers?

How to test output transformers?

I'm going to be selling a stack of OPTs from 50s/60s era amps. Since some are "pulls" from gear that wasn't working, I wonder how to test them. Is a resistance reading through and between all windings adequate? Or is it necessary to use a high voltage supply and ... and what?

IIRC, the Morgan Jones Valve amp book has a section regarding testing old trannies to determine specs.  Do you have that book?

Yes I do, and yes indeed there is a section. I will use a variac though instead of direct connection to the mains.

I may also try hooking them into an amp, as I have one I need to work on anyway.
