Hi guys and dolls, :D :D :D

Check this out

I just bought a stereo "splitter" 1/8 stereo (ipod side)jack to dual RCA to plug in directly into the aux input.  The REALISTIC input switching and it works great to add inputs to the AUX input! :D :D :D :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

SOUND AWESOME!!

Hey that is a great setup there with the Scott amp. You could take it to the next stage and really get great results.
I have a smart phone (IPHONE) and have downloaded the MOG app. I have a MOG account online (easy to sign up for) and opted for the paid streaming to my IPHONE. Now I can access a very, very big library of music and play it via my phone.
I invested in a Pure I-20 dock with a great DAC and that runs inline to the amp.

Very decent sound, incredible library of music.

  • The poodle bites, the poodle chews it.
wilsnyet nailed it, plugging things in is the key.
Yesterday I was listening to a new CD which sounded really crappy and I had to crank the volume way up to get it to sound halfway decent.
After about 45 minutes it dawned on me that I had turned off the tube buffer...
Flipping the magic switch made all the difference in the world.

Sea-Bee,
Could you post some close ups of that Scott gear?
Your set up has given me some good ideas for the living room here at Happy Valley, by the way.

OK.....OKAY!!! :D :D *heh!*

I just took a few of my old set.

It is a vintage 1961 LK-48 Amplifier and a 330D AM/FM tuner+Pilot 100 Multiplexer

Those are things of beauty, especially the tuner with those big Captain Nemo dials.

My family has been around HH Scott gear since the 1950s....My pop was a junior design engineer that came up with the idea of using the legendary 7591 output tubes instead of the the taller 6L6GC or the 5881 (the goal at that time was to make a booshelf system) during his tenure there.  He was employed there full-time during the summers while he was a post-graduate student MIT.  When he graduated he worked there full-time.  1955-1961. :thumb:

We have always had HH Scott tube gear around.....when I grew into adulthood I aquired a nice 299B amp in 1985 while stationed in Orlando.  Well, the rest is H I S T O R Y.

Boy would I love to have a larger home and ROCK....with a HH Scott 296 stereo amplifier. :D :D :D  $2200 *YIKES!*

As a pair of speakers I use a pair of E.V. Wolvrene 3-way speakers (vintage 1958).  12" woofers,  horn midranges, horn tweeters.....restored variable crossovers.  klipsch is about the sum of things (but older)

Regards,
Sea-Bee

Well, Sea-Bee, no wonder you're a Scott-meister and so active on the HH Scott forum!  So your Dad worked for H.H. Scott and came up with the 7591 output bottle idea - how cool is that?
When I was about 15 or 16, I bought my LK48-B kit at my local Radio Shack and assembled it.  I still have it, plus I bought 3 222C's and 2 Scott tuners off eBayrs.  I have almost completely re-capped one of the 222's.  I'll probably sell everything but my LK48 and one of the tuners - just can't seem to find time to re-cap, etc all of them.
Happy listening!

Yeah Hank :D :D :D Right on!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Have you restuffed your POSITIVE common FP cans yet??  It is easy to get the NEGATIVE "cans" (please do not chance NOS!! )  I tried "reshaping them" with the Varac..no dice.  BUY NEW ONES!!!
Yes ALL coupling and decoupling caps were replaced (I favor Orange Drops for the coupling caps).  And don't forget the elecrolytics on the 6U8/7199 tubes!!!......

Rather keep fixing ol' "Goldie" up instead of buying another toss-away piece of *****!!!

I did mine NOV last year......Zilch hum (teensy weensy bit), but after using my QuadStage BiasPro and a Fluke 77.  *BINGO!!!*  Outa' sight! :thumb: :thumb:

Thanks!!

I have had my LK-48 amplifier since 1996 and completely retubed and recapped it (B+, Filament/bias negative voltage supply can, all coupling caps).  Tubes are NOS cold-war Tesla 12AX7, Tesla ECF82 (much quieter upgrade to 6U8) AF amp/phase splitter, and a matched quad of Reflektor 6n14pEB outputs. 8)

I had the 330-D tuner since 2006 it came with a Pilot 100 Multiplex adaptor.  Realigned with scope and FM Stereo generator.  Running swell now....after some troubles with the cruddy tubes, and coupling and decoupling caps.  Retubed with NOS tubes and.... 8)

The speakers are a handsome pair that need refinishing....NOS LS12 Wolvrene woofers, replaced all of the tweeter and midrange diaphragms...and recapped the crossovers. Sorry about *crowing* a bit but hard work is just that!!  Made in the USA!!
