This is going to be my new system

As soon as pick out the color (probably piano black) this will be my system:

RM30M with 6.5"MW and Auricaps.  Also optional binding posts for bypassing bass crossover for biamping
LRC with FST, soundcoat and Auricaps
Ribbon dipoles with FST and possibly soundcoat

I'll have Odyssey Stratos Monos driving the front three speakers
B&K ST2140 driving the surrounds
Tempest pre
Denon 4800 processor
Cary 303/200 CDP
Pioneer 47A DVDP

The one thing I'm wondering about is if I should get soundcoat and Auricaps for the surrounds.  Are megawoofers standard on the surrounds?  If not, should I get that also?

Hi Pugs,

What happend to Lorelei, I believe that you had that in your system, I am just curious as have tempest and stratos with Jolida CDP and recently replaced paradigm ref v2 100 with Lorelei.

Thanks,

On the Ribbon Dipoles, the 6.5" WCF Megawoofer, which first arrived May 2004, is standard.

The FST option is $800 MSRP/pr (this is because there are two per speaker, $400 per pair x2 = $800).

Personally, I've never compared Auricaps/SC vs. without in that speaker in that application, & I doubt anyone has.  I suppose Brian could call me over next time he builds a pair with the options & I could A-B with a standard pair.

If space will permit it, I would highly recommend using an RM-30C for the center rather than a LRC.  The three mid ribbons will match much better with your RM-30 L&R and you will get a much clearer and more articulate dialog from movies/TV.  If you have not followed other threads on this matter, do a search on center channel speakers and you will find several discussions.  A number of people are now using the RM-30C as a center with good results.  I experimented with using one 626R, then two 626R's as centers and found two was better, clearer than one.  I am now using an RM-30C to match the RM-30M L&R speakers.

Here is one recent thread on this:

Best of luck on your new system.
