Hands on the D600
« on: 2 Oct 2012, 09:35 pm »
My D600 arrived today, the battery is charging now.

Nice charger that can fit on a powerstrip - also comes with a cord. SO there is a little plug, for your locality, and a cord that can also be used, for your locality.

Here it is with the cap briefly removed

And here it is with its first lens  - this lens is great for low-light

You can shoot with this protective cover, but I won't. This camera is bigger than my D90, a little taller and wider, but has a very good feel. It is certainly smaller than the D3, D4, D800s.

Notice that there is a lock button on the dial. There is also a lock button for the release-mode ring below it (continuous slow, continuous fast, timer, remote, Mirror up...

This is where the 2 SD cards go

I chose 2 of these cards  - 95MB/sec! Faster than my measly 30MB/sec cards optimized for the D90. By the way, by getting to use 2 SD cards instead of 1 SD and 1 CF for the D800E, I save $100

The battery has a positive latch mechanism

And this is where other stuff plugs in - headphones and Mic for video use, USB, HDMI, and GPS

It appears that the battery is charged! I will take some shots with it and post more impressions.

Anyone else order one of these?

Any questions about it?

enjoy the new gear!

If applicable, which Nikon are you coming from? I am curious about how you like the focus point layout compared to your other Nikon.

have fun

I am coming from the D90.

Will have to work with it more before I can comment on the AF.

Going well - super busy, and have not gotten a lot of shots in decent light since it has been rainy here.

But looks like a winner! If you take one of the cards out of the camera for processing, while they are set up for mirroring, you can keep on shooting on the other card.

Higher ISO shooting looks really good from what i have seen.

Focusing is different than on my D90 but I think it will be fine once I get it set up and get used to it.

Hopefully by this weekend I will have some good sample shots and more info. I may get a few shots posted during the week.
