No wonder people turn off to DVD A, and multichannel audio.

Still, it does highlight the continuing display of ineptitude by engineers in so many audio recordings.

very true smeggy, its less a problem of the formats, more a problem with the ineptitude of the engineers.

shame really.

I thought the motivation for super compression was for radio - that louder songs sold more albums (I myself buy whatever band is the loudest on the radio, I don't even care what style of music it is or what it sounds like.  I am sure you guys are much the same. :P)  But the DVD is something we've already bought - so where's the need for super loudness?  Well anyway, the industry knows best - now I'm gonna have to go through my collection and throw out anything that isn't loud enough.

Nathan, sometimes you can be so dim...

Special DVD's are extra loud so that you'll enjoy it so much you'll want to buy the special edition when it comes out later. If it wasn't loud enough you would probably let it slide. These marketing types know their onions.
