FryKleaner/iRIAA tribute
« on: 9 Jun 2004, 06:14 am »
I was considering building a Cornet when a Yamaha C-2a came my way. I recapped it with Black Gate and Nichicon caps and replaced four critical resistors with Caddocks. The four Black Gate NX 470/6.3 caps preceding the MC head amp would have taken forever to break with the paltry 0.35mV maximum output of my cartridge.

So I built the two kits. Before burn-in, there were large amounts of audible distortion on all passages with above-average levels. After a mere four hours being driven by the FryKleaner via the iRIAA, the preamp started to sing without distortion.

Thanks, Jim.

The FryKleaner is a fine product, your use was quite innovative.

Now we need a Cornet to compare to your Yamahammer...
