Home heating system on yet?

Well it looks like the colder days are just around the corner. The furnace was officially turned on this morning, a harbinger of winter to come.

Be well...

No. Haven't even had our first frost yet. Came close, though. First frost used to come by the second week in Sept. For some reason, that hasn't happened in a couple of years. Last winter was embarrassing. I didn't even use a tank of gas in the snow blower and it didn't go below zero once. Anyone who doesn't think somethings up with the climate isn't paying attention.

a nice day today in South Carolina. High of 77f. Definitely seeing fall in the weather and the lake is cooling off but I still go swimming every day! I am ready for some cooler weather. Ready to use our firepit and sit out by the lake :thumb:

Not yet, but our house is so amazingly insulated that even last year the heater was on maybe 2 weeks in total, even though it was a fairly cold winter here.
That superinsulation also has a downside, it gets humid really fast.

In Sacramento I don't usually turn mine on until around Thanksgiving.  Normally we don't get any appreciable rain until then either. Long dry summer/fall from May until November.

Bike riding is also good until then with sunny afternoons. As soon as the sun goes down my legs turn into popsicles but it is great to still be out.  I was born and died in northern OH. Reborn in CA. No more snow for this kid at heart.

First day in long trousers for six months here in sunny eastern England.
Shut the front door last week and ordered some oil.
Six tonne boxes of firewood sawn ready.
Might start the heating in November if it's a cool one.
Bright and sunny today so inside the conservatory it's still 30+C even with the Brystons off.

Hi all Audio Circle members.

Here in Saigon, Vietnam the coolest I saw in 17 years is 21C/74F
and it lasted only two days.

My Vietnamese wife saw 16C/64F
and again, it lasted only a few days.

However in north of the capital Honoi,
near the Chinese frontier,
they have during January one or two inches of snow in the mountains
and the thermometer goes a few degres below freezing.

They need some heating.

Most of January here in Saigon, the thermometer is around 25C/80F during the days and only a few degres lower at night.

No heating required, some air conditionning.

If the thermometer drops below 25Cé80F,
I turn on my Niteshade tube amplifier
and make some marshmellows...

By the way:
The coolest in my whole live was -39F in Montreal, Quebec in 1994 at 8am.
That was the coolest winter we ever had... Brrrr...
