Looking for ideas on 100 watt solid state integrateds.  I know of NAD and Jolida 1501RC.  Any others around the $500 and under price range new/used?  Nothing too vintage though.

Thnx,

Matty

Why 100 watts?  Why integrated?  Why solid state?  Just curious as to the specific requirements.

Well, I am looking for an alternate amp to use when I am not using my new AES six pac mono blocs.  I want an amp with power to push my Europa's properly and for ease of set-up I want it to be an integrated (so I can sit it on top of my tube pre when not in use).

Any suggestions?

I don't understand why you want an "alternate."  It'll be extremely difficult to find SS integrated at reasonable price that will have qualities you like in Sixpacs, assuming you like the push-pull tube qualities.  You will also be NOT using the tubed pre with the SS, but why?

I recommend a good hybrid integrated with tube input if you must find an alternate.  But if I were in your shoes, I would save the money on the SS alternate and save up the money for better NOS tubes and just use the sixpacs as primary AND alternate...

I know the speakers well... and depending on the size of the room they may not need that much power to sound great.  For $500 there isn't much that I've seen that would be great.  I've owned Arcam and HK stuff in the past as well as the Panasonic XR25... which all started coming to mind.. but the Europas will reveal the weak spots of those.

So far I've really liked tube gear with the Europa's... anything, not just amps... preamps, cdp's, etc.  But, that may be my taste.

I was going to recommend building an AKSA 55 amp w/ a TLP built into 1 box.  However, that would be a big project and it doesn't sound like you're into a big project... and it isn't 100W.  But, I know it'd make the Europa's sound great.

I don't know of many 100watt integrateds new or used... you already suggested the 2 I knew.  The Bel Canto evo2i is a great integrated but is triple your budget used.  So, I don't know.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Check out the Onix A-120 Integrated Amp. I haven't heard this amp so I can't voice any opinion but it meet your requirement. (120W per channel & only $340) :)

Creek and Rotel come to mind near that price range.

I own an Onix A-120 if you're curious about it.  It's an excellent integrated if you don't need a remote or pre-outs.  They are releasing a new version right now that comes with a remote, but will run more than the $500 limit.

Sorry I couldn't add this earlier, I was at work.

I want another amp, an integrated, to do double duty, one for a second system and one to sub into my main system for when those days in August are just too hot for tubes.  I want it to be an integrated so I can just plop it down in my main rig, not having to deal with my other pieces (on/off etc.)

I want the 100+ watts for that odd occasion where I really want to rock out.  Roy says actually 125 watts for ss with the Europas for them to really shine, but I figure in my price range 100 watts is more reasonable.

The NAD C370 at 120 watts and the hybrid 1501RC at 100 watts seem to be the leaders, unless there are other ideas.

Thnx,

Matty

If you are interested I will sell you a Norh Le Amp 2 that is brand new - $500.  Perfect condition,  about 6 days old, and great sound.  It doesn't beat the Atmasphere MA-2 but, it is a very good solid state amp.  Not an integrated though.

What about AMC products some of them are not so bad, right ?

www.amchome.com

and maybe www.audiosource.net with an affordable pre+power amp combination.
