Technics SL 1500 cartdrige reccomendations
« on: 19 Sep 2012, 01:13 am »
Greetings everyone. My Clearaudio Aurum Classic Wood needs a new stylus. I have no clue where to begin to have a new stylus installed and I have no confidence that I could do it. As a result I am thinking of just replacing the Clearaudio. Keeping in mind this is a 1975 table, what would you recommend?  I have thought of experimenting and installing my Clearaudio Maestro from my Emotion table just to see how it, (the technics), handles it!! Is that crazy??

Soundsmith $150 retip is highly recommended for the CA MMs.  You could get a AT-95 replacement stylus from LpGear and DIY.  Pry up the little plastic piece on the bottom that holds the cantilever.  Insert the new stylus straight in like any AT cart.  If you want, you can trim off the excess plastic with a wire cutter (carefully) and make it look like original.  It will work either way.
