Agreed on all points...thanks Danny!

I really wish I could have heard that all digital crossover too.  The pure flexibility would be awesome.

Hi Danny,

Ok, I'll bite.  What happened to the all digital X/O?  Was it a one time deal, are they being built?  Seems as if a solution that works that well would see the light of day.

The digital system was something that Larry (the guy that designed it) was working on as a personal project.

He would like to sell a few of them too.

I can get you further info on it if you are interested.

Turk or Mgalusha,

Any more impressions in the form of a mini-review or a full length one in the works for the Alphas?  I guess you must be enjoing them too much to have any free time left to post, eh!?

Last I heard them they were sounding very good. Unfortunately Turk (Jerry) had some plumbing problems in his basement and his listening room has been out of commission for almost two weeks. I believe he is nearly done putting the room back together. I'm still hoping he'll have a BBQ and listening session for all the Denver folks. :D

Plumbing repaired, bass traps are built.  This weekend or next for a mini review and BBQ.

Turk,

Are you keeping the RM 40's, Alphas, or both?

Can you remind which version of the RM 40's you have (had)?

Thanks,

George

There has been some talk on these forums about the high frequency roll-off and beaming of the Neo8.  When you get together and have your listen I'd love to hear your take on those issues.  Thanks.

Went back and re-read the thread.  Sounds like you prefer the Alphas and the 40's have the FST and TRT.  Did you upgrade the 40's to TRT?  Things look a little different than my 40's...

George,

His RM-40's were purchased with the TRT's, FST tweeters and soundcoat. I also vitrified the PR's per BC's mod instructions. The toggle switches on the 40's have been bypassed as one of them had failed and this was the easiest way to repair it.

I am going to make a list of a few specific areas that I hope the DAM gang will freely comment on as individual areas of performance and the mids and treble are two of them.

WS, I hope we can give you helpful info on your question.  When all is said and done, I am sure the whole of both speakers will be greater than the some of their parts and, as always, if a glaring problem exists or shows up as a room interaction, it will get the most attention.

Funny, in life a bad trait, if serious, can destroy a person's repution in the eyes of others regardless of other fine qualities.  We focus on that which is  most important to us.  Too much treble energy-too little treble energy, the person listening next to you may care less.  To them, sounstaging is the     summa bonum of speaker design.

Of course, I'm the last person to talk to about the break point; I've been married to the same woman for 35 years.
