There was a thread about it while back, possibly in the full range circle. As I recall it's a modified Dayton/PE unit. It's a bit high in price (for most people I would expect) to buy to experiment with...!

agreed about the price; iirc, it is about 4 times the cost of the stock driver.  the stock driver itself looks to be pretty interesting...

More than that. Also accompanied by a lot of bafflegab. A dissection exists on a thread on diyAudio (i think that is the one). IMO there are more sensible ways to EQ the driver (essentially all Steve is doing + adding an extra surround)

ya, price from p/e for the stocker is $138, (it used to be $149); the decware goes for $599.  looking at the reviews on p/e, it also seems the tang band w8-1772 might be a good choice, albeit a bit more spendy at $205.  its stock frequency response seems a lot flatter.

I have not been overly enamoured of the TB (and, so far, prefer 1808 over 1772) but there are alot of people that really like it. Check out Jon's Tan-Ken thread  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=105737

yes, the specs on the 1808 also seem wery nice; a little hotter on top, and not quite as efficient,. but still wery good.

i have been following that tan-ken build; and am awaiting listening comments.  that pair is certainly a beautiful build...
