New Teflon Film Capacitor to hit the market...
« on: 5 Jun 2004, 04:16 pm »
A new teflon film and tin foil audio capacitor will be hitting the market in the next week or so called the V-Cap TFTF. This is a completely new design, and not a relabeling effort...

The V-Caps were designed from the ground up to be used for coupling/bypass caps in tube equipment.

Always great to hear about development of new teflon caps.  I'll ask the obvious question since these V-caps seem a little cheaper than Relcap TFT exotica teflon caps.  Have you guys compared them?

Versus Relcaps...

If these caps were sold through a dealer netowrk, they'd actually be quite a bit more expensive than the RelCaps. I'm going to abstain from commenting on the V-Caps vs. the RelCaps, as that's subjective, and I'm obviously biased. I think you'll be hearing from users who have compared directly very soon...

Holy cow!  That's CHEAPER than the others?  I can't imagine spending that on a capacitor.

Price of caps...

It could be argued that the quality of a coupling cap has even more effect on the sound/transparency of a component than cabling and other rather expensive "tweaks". We all know how much some people are willing to spend on cabling and other esoteric tweaks... Once this is considered, the cost/benefit ratio is actually quite reasonable for upgraded caps, IMHO.

That said, these caps aren't for everybody- only those who are seeking the ultimate in performance out of their componets and are willing to pay the $$ for that gain.

Best,

Chris

I have no doubt it would sound better, but the problem is that I have eight or ten .47's in my monos.

Looking forward to hearing the reviews of these though. . .

8 to 10 caps in Monos

Only 8 to 10 caps in your monos- is that all, Hantra? :) I understand your point, but I think once the feedback from users starts spreading on these, you'll see what I mean as far as "bang for the buck" upgrade.

Chris,

I can't believe I am saying it, but no tube gear right now.

IF anything took the caps would be the Electrocompaniet ECD-1 dac or SONY S-7700 dvd player (used a transport).

Electrocomapniet EC 4.7 Fully Balanced.

At the end of this week or early next I should finally have my Bent Audio NOH passive preamp.

I am not familiar with the innards of the Electrocompaniet DAC. Perhaps others who have this unit might be able to chime-in on cap tweaks they've made to this unit...

Anyone pitted the Exotica Teflon & Film (TFT) capacitors against this capacitor?
Especially as suck-out caps for Class AB amplifiers.

Thanks,
