Kinks on vinyl
« on: 19 Aug 2012, 07:53 pm »
Does anyone own the Vevel label Kinks releases?
I was listening to Village Green on remastered CD which didn't sound quite right so I put on my old vinyl copy which sounded horrible - no bass and Ray Davies was just shrill on some of the tracks.
The label is Phonodisk from Canada for my vinyl copy.
I don't know if they managed to do Village Green before the label went under but any thoughts on any of the other titles?

I have, I believe, RCA for several titles. Not known for being sonically the best. I am unfamiliar with Velvel...

I see LP's on Reprise, Pye, PRT, Sanctuary, Serdisco, Phonodisc, Earmark, but no Velvel.

I have a gorgeous reissue of Something Else on Earmark in mono but I think the sound quality is marginal. Are you sure about the "Velvel" brand?

It looks to me as if you are looking to buy an LP from the Velvel label, am I misreading your original post?

Thanks.
I'll get one or two and see how they stack up.

Everybody's In Showbiz and Muswell Hillbillies are on order.
We'll see how they compare against my old copies and the CD versions.

I just gave Muswell Hillbillies a listen and we have a winner.
It's so nice to finally hear one of my favorite albums sound so good.
It's a shame Vevel konked out in the middle of the Kinks Kollection.
