A lovely recording of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals from Germany in 2006. 44.1/16bit and 48k/24bit lossless are both available.

16 bit flac and mp3. http://archive.org/details/ryanadams2006-10-17.sbd.flac16
24 bit flac http://archive.org/details/ryanadams2006-10-17.sbd.flac24

The best music you won't buy today. :)

Thanks  :thumb:

24bit sounds really good.  As a bass player I like the bass line that is higher (volume) then normal.   :green:

Thanks for the link.  Have not listened yet but am in process of getting my digital stuff more together so it is good timing.

That is the first music I have downloaded. Now I have to figure out how to get it to play...

thanks for this - enjoying it very much.

Damn Sam - I love a woman that rains playing right now.

I am demoing (one month free) JRiver media - quite nice software that works well with everything I have thrown at it so far.

I've used foobar & JRMC17.  They both sound great and much better than itunes.  I've settled on JRMC17 for the interface & cataloging.  I keep foobar around for file conversion.

This is on a Windows PC I take it?  Not compared to Mac > iTunes > Pure Music or other player

Correct, the comparisons are on a PC and I'm pretty comfortable saying JRMC17 is the best option for PC.

I don't have a MAC.  I've read a lot of good things about pure music (and other players on MAC), but haven't tried them.  One day I'll get a MAC alongside to compare.  If pure music was available for PC I would definitely give it a go plugged into itunes, because the itunes organisational stuff & interface is marginally better than JRMC17, but the sound isn't as good on PC.  I actually keep itunes around to do most of the organisational stuff (but mp3tag for artwork).

Typing this I just realised that I use 4 different programs to listen to and manage my music, bugger.  I guess it makes sense, we can't expect any one company/player to be the best at everything.

So it can't be played simply through itunes?

If you downloaded flac, no because iTunes won't play flac. An mp3 can be imported. Jrmc17 will play flac.

To get a flac file into itunes i convert it.  I usually convert to a wav file using foobar, then import the wave file to iTunes. In iTunes I then convert to alac (apple's version of flac) and delete the wav file. That way it's still a lossless file but is smaller.

I suggest trying both players to hear the sound difference.

I also have many of the 2005 and 2006 concerts, the cold roses tour most of them are phenomenal.

On a Mac iTunes with PM works fine.

I have run both - pure music on a macbook with itunes and now Jriver.  I like itunes because I have used it a long time so thought this was nice match with audio quality that pure music provides (great software).  I preferred this combo to my current setup but Jriver is pretty close both in terms of function and sound.  And much prefer my Dell laptop to the Macbook for other stuff so will be using Jriver going forward.  Review of Jriver up on 6moons which I will read in next day or two to see if I can tweak for sound some more.  One month free so easy to try out and like I say darn close to Itunes / Pure Music combo.

There's a good tutorial on computer audiophile site on how best to setup jriver. I've followed it and am happy.  Glad to hear from someone who's tried both pv & Mac setup.

For jriver I found jremote to be the best functioning iOS remote, though you do have to pay for it.

Thanks for the links, Ryan Adams is a firm favourate of mine. There's a wealth of good material on that site.
