VSA Cables issue
« on: 13 Aug 2012, 11:57 pm »
 All,

I had an unfortunate issue with my right VSA Masterbuilt cable this past weekend. A little background: I had my Direct TV box replaced this past Saturday, in changing the old and new cable boxes out, I kept losing sound from the right channel, come to find out when my dealer came out this evening to take a look, the banana plug is broken off. So my dealer is going to contact VSA in the morning to get a new one shipped out ASAP. Has this happened to anyone?

Sorry to hear about that Henry. I use Bananas on my Uni3s and spades on the 9s. No problems so far, knock on wood. Fortunately it appears the Bananas are screw/clamp types and won't require any soldering. A few twists of a screwdriver will be all that's needed. It did happen with a pair of PS Audio reference SCs that I had. Those cables were extremely thick and heavy. I should've gotten spades for them but unfortunately the line was discontinued. I got them at a clearing sale.

So the dealer came out to your house to inestigate the problem.  Sounds like you've got a first rate dealer!

I had a pair of VSA speaker cables and one of the bananas pulled out of the connector and got stuck in the speaker jack.  The jacks grip so tightly you have to be sure and loosen them all the way when pulling out the banana connector.

Guys,

Yes, I am lucky to have a top notch dealer in my area. He said it could have Been defective when it came, just took awhile for it to finnally give. When they were installed this past February, his install team probably did not notice the defect. Anyway, the new one is on it's way. Back to my dealer, it is a small family owned shop located in Millersville, MD, check it out on the web: www.stansburyav.com. Gavin, by the way, how was your jam session?

Hi Henry..

The jam session was the best one yet.  All the guitar players are very good and they bounced off one another quite nicely.  I meant to take pictures and totally forgot to.  Darn.
