Recently I can't seem to soak up enough Black Keys and Radiohead music and looking for some new music/bands cut from the same alternative rock cloth. What do you recommend?

Radiohead being a favorite of mine as well, these bands are in the same vein:

Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted may be their best album. My favorite is Wowee Zowee

Pixies - Of course Doolittle. Surfer Rosa Come On Pilgrim is also great

My Morning Jacket - Start with It Still Moves and Z then try the older and newer albums. One of the best live bands touring these days.

The National - High Violet is a near perfect album. I didn't hear it at first, but now it is some of my favorite music. Their whole catalog is great.

Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga gets a lot of the acclaim; Kill the Moonlight is an audiophile's dream on vinyl.

Good suggestions above. Check out the National's Boxer album as well.

Arcade Fire
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights, Antics
Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (incredibly well-recorded album; no two songs sound alike, so there's something for everyone)
Decemberists - The Crane Wife (another great-sounding album)

Ryan Adams has become a favorite of mine. His music always sounds fresh to me.
Another band I'd recommend is TV On The Radio.

Black Keys very blues based - like 3 generations later version of Led Zep.  Always think of Jack White (White Stripes and related bands) as being somewhat similar.  A young blues based band that I think is consistently really good is JJ Grey and Mofro - kind of halfway between Black Keys and Allman Brothers.  Another band I like in this vein is Low - lots of albums and pretty much everyone great by my ears although not always blues based.  Finally love pretty much anything done by the Eels who can sound very much like Black Keys at times.

Radiohead is a little different - for me more work but just as rewarding - almost a 30 years later and american take on prog rock.  They are pretty unique - one of the things I really like about Wilco is how well they cross into many territories from folk, to americana, to radio head style embellishments (mostly thanks to Nels Cline's guitar work) so albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot have similar elements to Radiohead.

Thumbs up to Ryan Adams recommendation and Girls (a band I have really enjoyed in the past year).

Just one other thought is I have been listening lots to the new Fiona Apple (Idler Wheel).  There are elements of Radiohead on this album which quite surprised me thinking that Fiona was more folky than modern rock.

Airborn

Black Keys - I agree with the poster that recommended the Jack White bands as similar, including White Stripes, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs.  I'd also suggest Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Drive by Truckers and Soledad Brothers.  A new band with an interesting and somewhat similar sound is Alabama Shakes.

Radiohead - Their sound is harder to emulate but I think if you like them you should check out Silversun Pickups, Massive Attack, Muse, Supergrass and Broken Social Scene.

Lots of great music in both these veins, you just have to listen and the similarities among many different bands become apparent.

Check out Vampire Weekend and Local Natives. Tame Impala is pretty good too, but just like the Black Keys their recording quality makes them unlistenable on any good system.

Black Keys - John Spencer Blues Explosion "Now I Got Worry" or "Orange", Black Crowes "South Harmony & Musical Companion",

Radiohead (up to Ok Computer) - Augie March "Sunset Studies", Bjork "Post", Dangermouse & Spaklehorse "Dark Night of the Soul", Spiritualized "Ladies & Gentlemen we are floating is space"

Radioahead (Kid A & after) - The Beta Band "3 EPs", Cannibal Ox "The Cold Vein", UNKLE "Psycence Fiction"

Hello Dave,

Other than the ones already posted I can only think of these old ones which might be similar to the BKs:

Bassholes, "Blue Roots" - even lower-fi and grittier than Jack White (this '92 recording pre-dates JW and the BKs)

Little Axe, "The Wolf That House Built"

Big Sugar,  "500 Pounds" - not exactly like the Black Keys, but sort of in the same ballpark (I think):

I've got the '93 original Canadian Hypnoptic Records release of this one with different artwork and slightly different tracks. Saw them live a few times in Detroit back then - killer band. This, and their first release, "Big Sugar", are terrific and highly recommended (by me!).

I own these CDs, so you may borrow to hear them in full if you'd like.

So did you give any of the recommendations a go Dave?  Anybody hit the spot?

Beta Band is an awesome recommendation, and so is Spiritualized (I can't believe I forgot both because I've seen each of these bands open for rh twice). Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space by Spiritualized is an all time classic, right up there with OK Computer. Or, at least in the ballpark.

The Spiritualized album is an absolute contemporary of OK.  I've seen them play in relatively small venues in Melbourne and it's an intense experience.  Their Live at Royal Albert Hall album is also great, have you heard it?

There's a couple of good Beta-side projects that are also very good - King Biscuit Time "No Style" and Lone Pidgeon "Concubine Rice".  The No Style disc is the album they should have followed 3EPs with.

I'm a huge Radiohead fan, seen them twice (The Bends & In Rainbows tours) & really digging the Black Keys as well.  The bands recommended above are fantastic!  I have many of these albums.  Aside from these bands, here are my recs:

Gorillaz - I pretty much play Plastic Beach on a weekly basis
Kings of Leon (I prefer their older albums)
Blur - My favorite album is Think Tank
Aphex Twin - Richard D. James album

Btw, check out the Punch Brothers cover of the song 'Kid A', it's amazing - the band uses all accoustic instruments to mimic the sound of Kid A.
