I have received my black DDA-100 a few days ago.
It is fed through USB from a mac pro and driving a pair of UK AVI Neutron 5 bookshelf speakers.
The amp is still burning in, but first results are pretty encouraging. Very clean highs, powerful bass (maybe lacking a tad definition). I am less sure about the medium right now, but it is too early to tell really. Anyhow, the first impression is that Nuforce managed to reach an impressive level of performance considering the low price point.
In terms of looks and usability, the DDA-100 is both elegant and discrete. The recessed LEDs are a nice touch but limit a bit the ability to read the amp status from the side. I personally like this as a prefer low key displays.
The amp runs pretty cool. The box just feels a bit hot to the touch after running at level 60 (too loud for normal close distance listening) for 32 hours in a room at 30 degrees C. So it does seem well suited for a desktop amp where the distance to the user is often less than 1 meters or so.
For what it is worth, the reference system I am comparing this to is world class and several tens of times more expensive of course since it is made up of a Devialet D-Premier Air driving a pair of Wilson Benesch Vectors... so I am not expecting the DDA-100 to come really close but still, it is far from being ridiculous.
Cheers,
Bernard
