Magnepan MC-1

Anyone here using Magnepan's MC-1 for surrounds.
I'll be trying out(home audition)a set from my dealer on the weekend.
I'm assuming my box speakers shouldn't interfere too much as they are just for the movie side of things.
Power will be a Bryston 4Bsst so power is a non issue.

I would assume that they should give alot more envelopment than a box type(Revel S-30).

Glad I do home auditions, found the MC-1's very enjoyable for surround work.
Even though they were X-over at 100hz,the right side seemed to have some mechanical noise as if the ribbon would
be vibrating on something.
Wendell suggested perhaps a 120hz X-over point.
As the room is only 12WX19D,volume wasn't thx levels(-19)on the dial.
Perhaps using another sub between the 4b-sst and surrounds or I'm thinking  another home audition with the MG-12's next week to see if they give me more of the same.
I have not much room behind(3'-4')so maybe the 12's are to big, size doesn't matter,it's the sound quality

Hmm, I'm surprised that it buzzed. Did you try Wendell's crossover recommendation?

I took them back before I talked to him.
They supposedly go down to 80hz.
Course being a used set, they could have come into some type of abuse.
If I can't turn them up for surround duty,I won't take a chance and have the same thing happen with a new set.
The MC-1 and the 12's are very close to the same price,so perhaps a bigger panel that will go lower will be a better bet, cousre the MC-1's small footprint I like.
Will see if I can audition the 12's.
