Stupid Question
« on: 18 Jul 2012, 07:43 pm »
So I rearranged my room, and I am enjoying the sound of the LSs with the grills off.

The issue is is that my woofers are all dusty.

What is the safest way to clean the woofers in your experience? Just a wet cloth? Does the kind of cloth matter to avoid scratching the material?

Thoughts?

Dumb question right?

Nothing wet on those cones. The dry swiffer duster is a good recommendation. I use those myself.

They are loud as all hell sometimes, those woofers just dont move all that much. Small room I reckon.

Good thing I asked.   :duh:

I've used a version of this -> http://www.calcarcover.com/product.aspx?id=1021 for a while now.  It really picks up dust well.  I haven't used it on speaker cones, but it should work well.  It doesn't leave any residue.  I have some speakers that have a black lacquer finish on the tops and a quick wipe and they're pristine again.

Remember, there are no stupid questions.  Just a lot of inquisitive idiots.   :green:

NO offense.  That's just one of my demotivational phrases.

As for the speakers.  I wouldn't dare get ANY moisture on them.  I use a round, soft bristle paint brush to dust my stuff with.  It does a good job at getting into the cracks and crannies of whatever I am are trying to clean.
