Cardas XLR to RCA
« on: 16 Jul 2012, 07:51 pm »
Is it OK to use one of those Cardas, or other good quality XLR to RCA adapters to hook two units together ( BDA-1 to BHA-1 ) ? I already have the XLR inputs on the BHA-1 hooked to the BCD-1 XLR outputs, and the RCA outputs of the BDA-1 hooked to the RCA inputs of my BP6. And the tape in and out of the BP6 are already hooked to a digital recorder, so I'm out of plugs, and that is why I'm thinking of this solution. I know if I do it, the signal will be unbalanced, but besides that , is there any signal level loss or anything else that I should worry about ?  My local technician said that it will be worse than using RCA on their own ??? Thanks

I have used Neutrik XLR>RCA without problems.  I didn't measure the signal with a meter but sounded fine to me.  The Neutriks are about $9.00 ea.

Perfect, no need for a meter, just I did not want a dramatic drop, because sometimes XLR and RCA outputs have different gain levels. At the worse, if needed, I'll have my volume control. Thanks
