Hmm, that's an interesting suggestion. I must confess that I haven't given any thought to utilizing that space. Using it as a bass trap is a great idea. I assume the term 'chunk style' describes the trap design to the letter - chunks of various sizes packed into that cavity. It would be fairly easy to hide as well. I guess I blew it when I located that light, but I think I know how to deal with it.
As much as I planned the layout and construction of my listening room (within the constraints imposed by the overall structure), I missed a number of things that are driving me nuts. I calculated the placement of things, but experimentation pushed me and my speakers away from what worked on paper. Scotty's recommendation illuminates an area of research I completely missed - one that is very much like something Josh introduced to me (also, after the fact). The concept of actively addressing the management of bass energy is gnawing on my mind. An idea has been developing, but there are logistical hurdles. Aren't there always?
Anyway, adding another trap is easy. I just may make this my project for this weekend (the next four days). By the way, if my assumption is way off base, please turn me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Kevin
