how this fanless/Diskless PC which will connect with NAS to get the music <= 225

Apologizes if wrong thread...

 i am looking to create a mini-itx PC only for pure music listening which will be connected to a NAS which stores all the music...

what software/OS would you guys recomend...looking to make this really pure digital transport which fetches the music from server and puts it to the DAC..

i am looking saw voyage MPD which is a great option for music...possibly ai m buying a wm8741 based DAC from ebayer shipping from china or any other recomendation...

yes i did, i kinda liked the CPU and GPU on this and price point was preety same...

There is site that tells you instructions on how to set it up with voyage mpd...

thanks...hows this setup for 225 if i take the SSD out and put like 40GB SSD it will come below 175$...

hows the performace you can think about this...???

just asking before ordering....

from my side it is a very cheap PC trasnport...

just asking opinions..

Is it going to be a usb dac? You will want to look for performance on USB and power supply. The alix uses compact flash card, cheap. Doesn't need much storage to run so no need ofr something bigger like 40gb with that setup.

Also, should mention, some people were using linear power supply from parts express as cheap but decent power for the Alix.

I am not very experienced, I am sure others will give you better input...

my first choice would be atleast optical then coaxial and then USB based DACs...

Curious as to thinking behind your order of preference. Mine would be exact opposite. But deends on implementations of each, as always.

Linux has a problem with the USB DAC ...what i know amyu be ia m wrong....but i would liek your opninion tooo
