I currently have an onkyo 875 and was wondering if upgrading to a new receiver would be worth it...?  Obviously more HDMI's, ethernet, ipod controls, etc would be nice.  But how about the sound and power?  I've heard that the older onkyo's (875 and 905) still rank at the top for power..?

The 805 is the 'classic' in the Onkyo lineup....if you want 3d etc and networking connectivity etc the new AVR's are the way to go...I wont part with the 805 I have. You can always build a HTPC and or an external bluray player with network connections etc..
