Not $400 worth of love for me.

Enough to stick with the 33.33 boxed set I already have.

I'm with Paul, my Rhino 33.3 box set is good enough. Although, I might buy the 45 of their first album. The 45 RPM versions of Fleetwood Mac and Rumours are definitely worth the money as is the 45 RPM version of Jennifer Warnes Famous Blue Raincoat ($100).

I tend to save my 45 RPM lust for jazz titles. Like the Dolphy "Out to Lunch" on its way to me...

I love The Doors, they're one of the few classic rock bands I can still listen to and haven't been burned out on. But I'll be sticking with my DCC vinyl which plays quiet and sounds great.

If it takes as long for this set to be released as it has the SACD's, most of the folks that are  interested in buying it will be dead and gone!!!!  :duh:

Not me.
I will stick with the Rhinos and spend my money on remastered Zappa.

Mikey has an opinion too: The Doors At 45 On 45!

Me too. But after reading the review and especially this paragraph, I'm having second thoughts.
Quote
Whatever I wrote about that box then, now, by comparison, the best I can say for The Doors on that set is that it sounds like you're hearing the album played back on the best CD player ever. It's smoooooth, laid back and pleasant but totally lacks balls, grit, detail, spaciousness and raw emotional power. The entire presentation is flat against a wall set up between the speakers. The double 45 has greater dynamics, detail, spaciousness and appropriate grit—everything the smooooth 192k/24 bit sourced version lacks.

Yeah the only way I can resist is by reminding myself that I've had some amazing (but still pricey) vinyl scores of late: MFSL Beatles rubber Soul thru Abbey Road & Classic Records' Hot Rats and Who's Next.

I will be fine with my mono 33 1/3 Doors S/T reissue for the time being.

Ugh.
It looks like I'm going to have 4 Doors sets - CD which bites, regular Elektra which was not so hot, Rhino which I thought was great and now this accursed project.

I have the first two from this 45 set.
Very nice. Impressive bass. And spacious sounding for rock music.

Not that I'm even considering this, but does anyone know at what speed/pitch all these newer LP's (either the 33.33 or the 45) run?  The correct speed or the original slower one?

In both cases of The Doors s/t - Bernie Grundman's digitally restored Rhino set and
the current Doug Sax remaster at 45 rpm - the original speed and pitch was chosen.

Another funny opinion: SH1

... and some useful infos: SH2

Six times fifty is 300. I ordered the first two, the box available in October for 400. I will justify the purchase by living without the soon-to-be-separately-available box with the photo book and essay by Fong-Torres.

I did an a/b comparison between my rino 33 1/3 The DOORS and the new 45 rpm from analog productions and while the rino version was very good, the 45 has a whole new level of "real".  I will now be replacing my others with the 45s as they come out.

I just did the same. No contest -- I'm sold on the 45 rpm. sounds damn close to live, a fuller, richer presentation throughout the entire spectrum.

Maybe so, but I'll stick with my original issues that I bought as a young fella. I'll be damned if the music industry is going to get me to buy music twice or three times or four times...
