REDWINE plus SILVERLINE... wish me luck!
« on: 16 Jun 2012, 04:03 am »
Okay, so I just ordered a SIGNATURE 30.2 (REDWINEAUDIO)....

to be used with a pair of MINUET SUPREME PLUS  (SILVERLINE AUDIO)

and for a DAC, I have ordered a DEVILSOUND NOS (HALIDE DESIGN)

I hope the synergy works out well, because I usually listen to music 10+ hours a day (I work from home a lot).   I thought about NAIM, but it scares me to see people with a 10+ NAIM BOX system and they STILL WANT MORE NAIM STUFF.... that's called addiction folks :)

I once had a REGA BRIO with REGA R1's, and I don't care what the peeps at Sound Organisation told me (I was very very new to audio when I got it)... that setup was BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT (but it did sound emotionally involving to me, it's just that I couldn't enjoy it for more than 30 minutes....FATIGUE FATIGUE FATIGUE).

Thanks for letting me post!

Silverlines are good speaks.  I think you'll enjoy your new system.  Welcome!

The 30.2 is a great amp.  I do not think you will find it fatiguing.

Thanks Ericus, Thanks Brad.

I haven't been this excited since I ordererd my first AppleMacintosh 5 years ago.
(maybe Vinnie Rossie is to AUDIO what Steve Jobs is to computers???)

Thanks Ericus, Thanks Brad.

That's a bit of a stretch.
But I have owned his SR-11s (twice) and loved them for a small room. Wish I never sold the pair I had in Ferrari Red.

Good luck with the setup. Let us know how it sounds.

Well, I've had the system set up for about a week now, and it's been a very different experience:

The first few days I thought "Wow, this is neat, but I miss the thick/rich sound of my TUBES!!"

then, later on in the week, something changed. I don't know if it was

a) the speakers loosening up?

b) my ears adjusted to the new sound?

or

c) I started focusing on the music instead of the system?

Regardless, at this point I really like listening to music on it and feel an emotional connection to the music. The imaging is REALLY neat, but I try not to focus on that too much as I must look like a crazy-person poised in one spot to get the images "just right"

p.s. decided to send the dac back. going to upgrade to either HALIDE HD or original ISABELLINA DAC.

I realize this pretty much a dead-thread, but I feel compelled to follow up anyway :)

I continue to enjoy this small system more each day.  And here's something somewhat bizarre: I don't even have a proper DAC hooked up yet (using airport express audio out) yet it still sounds pleasing to my highly sensitive ears (I usually only like tubes).

I still think Vinnie could very well be the STEVE JOBS OF AUDIO.  If you look at an original APPLE I and think about Steve's progress over the last 30 years, there's NO REASON why VRossi's simple/elegant design with its SOPHISTICATED SOUND can't be brought to "the masses" as Steve did with Apple.

I hope I can stay off the audio-merry-go-round for a while, because the whole reason I started reading these types of forums was to get advice on a high quality/SMALL system. I never imagined there would be SO MANY CHOICES.  And I never imagined I would be so consumed with picking just the right one. That's why I originally went with (well known brand famous for it's synergy I thought). I spent an entire year TRYING to enjoy it until I finally realized its sound was giving me ANXIETY the whole time  :icon_frown:. I guess I should be "grateful" for that experience because I can better appreciate when sound is actually PLEASING to me.

Thanks for letting me share my humble thoughts.

From everything I've read over the years, LA, you have made excellent choices.  I would just like to recommend that you get some dedicated stands to dimensionally expand your soundstage.  You'll see what I mean if you do.  Enjoy.

Hi LA,

I agree with jimdgoulding - using dedicated speaker stands to better separate the speakers (and get them in front of the table, and play with toe in) will add a larger, wider, deeper soundstage and you'll get less resonance from the table.

But I can appreciate the clean, simple aesthetic of the table and short wiring (but you need to update the pic with your new Signature 15!).

Play around, have fun, and get lost in the music - that's the most important part!

Cheers!

Vinnie

At least get those speakers up on some cones...

A good, inexpensive way to start!

Foam Auralex padding for monitors is another good way to go (though a bit more visually obtrusive).
