From RUSSIA to NASA then PLATTENSPIELER
« on: 15 Jun 2012, 04:39 pm »
Here is a Ondeof (one degree of freedom)turntable by Aleks Bakman who is a very valuable person with respect but you do not have to be him to make a outstanding PLATTENSPIELER.
http://www.onedof.com/
If I start to write here for this subject,it might be too long to read and might be offensive in some degree.
But,why even this table had to be made?
We already have load of over priced turntables in the market.Do not we???? :dunno:

It is clearly better than anything else on the market; it has 3 belts!

I think there is something really instinctual about fine machinery and the appreciation by audiophiles :thumb: :thumb:

There wasn't a section regarding drive belt quantity.  So it wasn't me.

I do not think it has anything to do with the belt.It is all about self-centering.
I would like to put it beside the SME 30/12A and see what I could hear better to make me put my $100,000.00 deposit down with no refund and 2 years warranty.

I prefer twin belt drive.  Three belts create odd order harmonic distortion whereas twin belts create self-cancelling even order harmonic distortion for a sweeter sound.  The Avid Limited Edition Anniversary turntable was a run of only 10 units (now sold out) for about 1/5 of the price of the Onedeof.

But it only has TWO belts.  3 is above the number.........2.  Are you mathematically challenged?

You might be right and when you sell it you still get most of your money back a least better then a turntable + you can impress young ladies in the street. :thumb:

I did hear this table for 3 or 4 hours and if I had the money I would buy it with no doubt.

They have gone back to "chains" but I have had three cam belt changes ($$$$) and need #4 in 10k miles.  Only live once. :>).

It is incredible how minute changes to such mechanical devices impact the sound, just recently I had an opportunity to hear how much difference there was in sound between a simple weight made of ebony wood and brass. I have no doubt that going to extremes does make substantial difference in such devices.

Absolutely, this is something that I experienced myself by building and machining not buying or reading the ads. That is why I do not like the tables made out of acrylic platter or shiny MDF base.
