I'm on the verge of purchasing the Odyssey equipment that Klaus groups together for $4500 (Tempest, Stratos, Lorelei + cables and such).  This will be my first (and honestly, I would actually like it to be my last, except for possibly HT upgrades later on) foray into high end audio.

What I was hoping I could get from some of you is your impressions of the difference upgrading to the monos would be, from the standard amp that comes with the package?  And beyond that, what about the extreme monos?

Would the sound difference be very noticeable between each of these upgrades, or subtle?  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 No upgrades?  ever?  You are upgrading before you even start :o
Welcome to AC Pete, and I'm just pulling your leg.

There are many posts about the extreme upgrade.  I would do several searches about the stereo and mono amps.  You can upgrade the Stereo to the Extreme ststus too if you want.  I have the Stereo-Ex but never had a "regular" Stratos so I can't compair, but I do love my Stereo EX.

One point to consider is a planned upgrade.  Maybe use the extra $1500 and secure your source, then as funds allow upgrade your Stereo to Mono Extremes.

Well, maybe not never ;)  But seriously, I have the money now, so I'd rather not plan for an upgrade later if I think it's worthwhile.  That said, I didn't realize it would be as much as $1500 more, so let me do as you suggested (as I should have done the first time, sorry) and do some searches on this forum to catch up.

And thanks for the welcome :)
