VMPS Supertower/R Crossover Schematic
« on: 13 Jun 2012, 03:12 pm »
It is time to get back on my rebuild.
I have replaced all of the woofers and repaired and vitrified the passives.
All the other drivers are in tact but the speakers are really sounding bad at this time.
Has anyone done a crossover rebuild or upgrade?
Does anyone have the crossover schematic for the Supertower/R's?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not to burst any bubbles...FYI: I estimate, with that model's many different driver evolutions throughout the years/decades it existed, there are at least a dozen different variations of crossover.  Including the tiny changes to slightly alter xo poles, more like 50.  I assembled VMPS for some years.

Every single driver in that speaker (10 IIRC) changed pretty regularly over time except the top-firing piezo tweeter.

The XO architecture stayed pretty much the same or identical (QSO bass/mid range) but values changed quite a bit.

Kit or factory assembled?

Post the model year if known, or an image.  Did you listen with the level controls at mid point?  If there are electrolytic caps (IIRC it's possible) they could be bad because of age.
