song towers for surrounds?

I know it's been done, but are there any disadvantages?  Obviously the larger foot print but if you could get a good used pair of songtowers seems like it could be a great option over song surrounds?

No downside. In fact, the ideal system would have 5 or more identical speakers. Most people don't have the space for tower surrounds.

Other than cost, space, and having decent amplification, no downside.

In fact, I have 5 Song Towers for my HT and I am very, very happy with them.

^ Agreed.  Although, if I had to choose between two in the rear or one for a center I'd pick the latter.  5 would be so awesome, though!  If you have the space and funds I wouldn't hesitate.

I use a pair of ST-RT in a 2 channel system.  I'd say these speakers would be awesome in ANY situation..fronts, rears....center.  Get the best you can afford.   :D
