After trying multiple combinations with my HE5LE's, I was just about ready to say
they were just to bright in the upper mid/lower treble. Finally decided to
stop running my Transporter direct into the amps and inserted my SAS labs 7A
preamp inline. Wow! The difference is not subtle. Wider soundstage, smoother midsand reduced sibilance.
My analytic side says there must be a frequency shift or impedance change...
something... My music lover doesn't care. This setup now sounds so much
more enjoyable that it greatly increases the recordings I can enjoy.
Go figure...sometimes less is more...sometimes more is more.
