Amazing amplifier for the money. I had it driving all sort of speakers, and it seem to handle all of them well, including the notorious ATC speakers. I bought it new 2 years ago in best buy, and do not regret the purchase. However, I am selling my remaining audio equipment. I just do not have time to listen anymore. And besides, the amplifier warrants a much better speaker then my NHT SuperOnes. My lost is your gain.

For anyone who's sitting on the fence regarding this amplifier, let me say that it truly is an excellent piece.  I have the smaller brother (the A-S500) that puts out a few less watts.  I'm using it to drive my Monitor Audio RS6 Silvers and it's doing an excellent job.  Additionally, the Yamaha amp has a subwoofer pre-out that is "fixed" at 80Hz.  This allows you to send a full frequency signal to your main speakers, and still send signals 80Hz and below to the sub.  I'm using mine strictly in a 2.1 music environment.  The SVS sub was relatively easy to integrate and the sound is fantastic.

Believe me, I tried for 10 years to get my home theater receivers to perform in 2.1 channel environments and each time, I would end up disappointed.  However, with this true Yamaha integrated amplifier, life is good.  The sound is beautiful and it has the motorized volume control knob along the likes of the other higher-end brands.

thanks WJE! Its an awesome integrated amplifier, and that says alot because I came from a pair of large class A monoblocks. Thought it would have been sold by now, oh well. I'm trying to leave this hobby, but if i keep this, i might be tempt to buy speakers for it.


I think I met you before in Virginia, I believe you bought a pair of my XLS monitors! How has everything been?

I sure wish I had some disposeable income right now, I'd be all over this. I've been wanting one of the A-S500's (cheap!) since Yamaha brought these out. I agree, if anyone's thinking of getting this, they'd be in for a treat. I have Klipsch Fortes that would just LOVE this quiet beast.
