If not the best flat picker, was up there.  You will be playing for a better crowd now.  R.I.P. Doc.

R.I.P. Doc.

I listened to Doc and Merle last night and raised a little toast,  very much a bittersweet affair.

He left quite a musical legacy. He said he liked to hone his skills settin' under a shade tree with a big glass of iced tea...

Some of my favorites are Black Mountain Rag, Tennessee Stud, his version of Frankie and Johnny, and all those fiddle tunes - oh yeah and Don't Let Your Deal Go Down.

Listen to St James Infirmary on that third Generation Blues album. His words are haunting. It was the first thing I listened to after hearing about Doc. I have seen him numerous times and spoke with him once. What a humble man for so great a talent. My wife and I will greatly miss our fellow North Carolinian.
