Error message on my Rebel
« on: 29 May 2012, 11:35 am »
Good morning guys

Decided to get back into photography so I dusted off my Canon Rebel ( several years old) and let the battery recharge overnight.
First off, the battery needs to be replaced. Not holding enough charge. Secondly, in getting an "error 02". Did a google search and  all fingers point to the cf card. The problem is I have two cards and I get the same message using either one.Do these cards go bad? I checked the pins and dont see any damage.

I had a CF card go bad but I wouldn't have thought both would have... perhaps related to the low battery?

Thanks John
I figured two cards going bad is a long shot.
This situation just gave me a good excuse to buy a new camera!

Looking at these

Anyone have an  opinion  on either one? Canon or Nikon preferences in general?

I shoot Canon, but if I were to buy a camera today in your shoes, I would buy the brand-spanking new Nikon D3200.

Both the Canon 600d and Nikkon D5100 use the long-in-the-tooth sensors, and the 24 MP sensor in the D3200 is very nice.

Or, I would hold off until the impending Nikon D600 full frame camera ships some time this year.  This "entry level" FF camera is rumored to cost in $1500-2000 range and would be worth it.

Canon really has been disappointing in their lineup of late.

Yeah that D3200 looks like a pretty good bang for the buck - I recommended it to my brother and his wife.

I'm a canon user and I recently got to try out the Nikon D4. Made me really consider selling the 5DMKII with all the lenses (24-70,70-200is, 50mm &100mm) and getting the D4 with a 50mm and 105 macro lens
