WTB  Gallo Nucleus Reference II (the older Gallo)

Update. I have committed to new speakers, so I am no longer seeking the Gallos.

I am interested in purchasing this speaker. Seeking the older, circa 1990s Nucleus Reference with single tweeter and dual bassballs.

Did you recently get a chance to hear these? I've owned four pairs (Reference I, Ultimates, Reference II, Solo) over the past ten years or so.

Like JP78, I've owned many iterations of Gallo speakers, currently the Reference 3.5, and I still have the original Solos I purchased back in '94. Try to audition the new Classico III, I feel that these are very very close to the sound of the Reference IIs you're looking for, and likely wouldn't cost you more than a used set of Reference IIs, if you can find them.

I know you are a long term fan of Gallo. I had no idea the Classico might resemble the older design. Frankly, I'm stunned. I haven't researched Classico--I couldn't wrap my mind around a BOX version of a Gallo. It seems counterintuitive. Thank you.

Years ago I had a pair in this exact same champagne gold.  Real nice.   Can't tell from the pics why the condition is 6/10.  I'd surely ask about it.

$1200 is a very good price for this speaker.  Older speaker, yes, but I don't know what beats it at the price.  I believe orig MSRP was approx $4.5k.  More than 10 years ago I sold mine for over $2k.
