This isn't a serious post.  Just noticed that as i'm scrolling through the listing of Circles here at AC one thing stands out:  Our GAS circle has, by a wide margin, the highest # of posts and threads.  Way more than any other audio club or region.

So, are we??

Simple.  We are a bunch of lonely old men with, aside from BobISL's interactions with his customers, very little social lives.

Well, back when the NYAR (the NY guys) still had their circle, we had more Topics but they had more Posts. Since they have moved on, it looks as if we the most active regional group.

Now if we could just convince the group that it's OK to publicly host an event and suggest a maximum number of guests. We have so many people wanting to participate that the members are afraid to post anything in fear of overrun by rabid audiophiles In turn, it makes us look like we aren't active other than some random posts and a few last minute gatherings. If we really want to be a legit group, we gotta do stuff and post pics. Granted, this Saturday is our Music Crawl and this is a great event but we really need to do more to make GAS truly viable.

We've got one planned in September (22nd actually) but I'll make a separate post on that one late this week. 

Maybe we can get somebody to step up and corral the troops. A great place to start would be something similar to what the Rave did;

It will take a little prodding of the group to host events and a bit of time to keep up with the thread but if we pull it off, all of a sudden we'll breath life back into GAS.

So.....any volunteers to wrap their arms around us and get our [collective] act together?

Scott, I'll volunteer to become the official events coordinator.

We can host official events at Scott's, Kent's, mine, Kirch's, Turbo's, Catastrophe's and Bside's house, and we'll need a few more to make things interesting. I know St. Louis Stereo is good for an annual stop, so that gets us to seven events.

We will need another three or four  home hosts, plus our annual record crawl which happens this Saturday(hint hint!)

Why don't we all meet for an event with the NY guys at Washington Square in the Village? There's gotta still be some good music cookin' there. Now that'd be a road trip. You guys can swing by and pick me up on the way. I got dibs on the shotgun seat in Scott's car...

Hey! Tompkins Square is in the Lower East Side down in the Alphabet. That's a whole 'nuther planet. Charlie Parker's old crib is just across the street on the East side of Tompkins Square, and if ya don't watch out... you might run into the ghost of Joey Ramone. Wouldn't mind seeing David Peel for that matter....

Kinda' funny you mention this.  One of my previous hobbies was a salt water (reef style) aquarium.  There's a site similar to Audiocircle for these hobbyists called ReefCentral.  The St. Louis club was by far the most active on that site.  In fact, I met Chris' (Mer Rev) brother (Nanook) thru that site.

Guess we're just a bunch of homebodies....
