Hi All, this is my first effort at building an open baffle speaker.I have decided to play it safe and try something that has already been built that being Martin J King's passive two way open baffle design using the Eminence Alpha 15 and the fostex 103se. Have any of you guys tried this build and has anyone tried it with any other fullrange driver other than the 103?I am thinking of using the fostex 126en instead, any thoughts and opinions are more than welcome including your opinion on the sound of the original build. No disrespect intended here.

Regards

I built a modified version of MJK's passive OB using Fostex FF85k and Eminence Alpha 15a.  It is more of a U-baffle than the simple OB.

For details, see:

be sure to look at posts #479 (includes photos), #493, #495, and #508.

I have not listened to the FE103en, so I have no opinion about it.

If I were to select another driver, I might consider the FF105wk or FE108eSigma.  Both of these might be able to go a bit louder than the FF85k.  Not sure about the sensitivity of the new FF85wk, but it might be something to keep in mind. Someone reported that with the FE108eS they had to pad it sown just a bit to match the output of the Alpha 15a.
Cheers,  Jim
