VR2's Sub match
« on: 19 May 2012, 02:47 am »
Howdy all! I am thinking of adding a subwoofer to my HiFi system. If no Schweikert's readily available, what else would fit the bill? I would prefer a passive sub, but those are not easily found these days so I will have to adjust and improvise  8)
I am driving the VR2's with an NAD C375 BEE and although it sounds  very good ... how many of you are satisfied with very good?
Anyway, as always your input will be greatly appreciated!!!
Hit them straight!

I've got a Velodyne SPL 1200 Series 2 that seems pretty well matched with my VR2's. I find that the most important thing is to not have it set too loud. You really don't need an awful lot of augmentation with the 2's. They're pretty amazing given what they are. Goes to show you what good design is all about.  Check out the posts by WGH who has a lot to say about them plus some great upgrades for them.

I agree, really. I was always amazed at the flat, deep bass response on a speaker with such small drivers.

It's that VSA hybrid transmission line. One of the things about VSA I love most.  :thumb:

Slightly off topic but if you are in the market for a pair of VR2s - check the sales forum here on AC, there's a pair going now for $1k (not mine, no interest there, just pointing it out)

For anyone interested, there's also a pair for sale on Audiogon right now. Priced under $1000.
