This model was compared to a Oppo bdp-83 SE version driving a Musical Fidelity M1 Dac to a surprising degree, both were the same. In the comparison noise levels was the main difference.
This player sounds fantastic when it was compared to my reference player with additional tweaks (beyond the Alan Maher filter) that I will only share with the buyer. Also note the people at Oppo in my experience are the best in customer service.
This is one of the best options in the market if you are considering players that are up to 5x the price. There is a "pure mode" switch on the remote that turns off video display.
