iPod Touch update overdue?
« on: 8 May 2012, 10:57 am »
Just wondering... according to wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch#Models - new models came out roughly a year apart. However, there was no 5th gen in 2011. Just wondering - anyone have any thoughts on when a 5th gen will likely be out?

I'm not really seeing it. Anyway. It would kinda suck to buy a 64G iPT as the primary source for a second system and have a 128G come out the week after for the same price - kinda got caught with that with the switch to Intel processors awhile ago. So... just wondering if anyone else has been thinking about the iPT evolution...

We will probably see a new generation launched at the same time as the iPhone 5.  Likely to be early 4th quarter this year.  Apple needs to have something new for Christmas presents!

September/October timeframe for new IPod Touches. That is assuming that they update it this year. They didn't update it last fall, which is why there is not a fifth gen model. Worst case they update the processor in them this fall.

John,

Are you loading music on to it and you still have the mac mini? If you are running itunes on a computer and have a wi-fi network, you should be able to access all your music available in iTunes on the mini through the music app on the iPod Touch. Not sure which iOS version they implemented it with, but it works on my iPhone and iPad.
