Just picked up one of these locally for a pretty good price.

Does anyone have a unit modded by Matthew Anker of sacdmods.com?
I've read the reviews on AA, but curious to know if anyone on AC has one of these.

The mod delivery time and price look pretty reasonable.

I have had this player since last August purchased w/ multichannel mods from SACDMODs directly.  Player has been utterly trouble free and has improved over time esp. Red Book playback.  I probabaly have more invested in IC's than in the player which was approx. $600
My system includes an Arcam receiver which has 5.1 direct (6 IC's) but I also use a pair for Red Book CD's to get my sub into the mix (no bass management on 5.1 direct.)  My fronts are Sonus Faber Concertinos, not really bass challenged but the sub helps.
You can't use aftermarket power chords (no IEC recept)
I have no gripes whatever, Matthew hasn't returned recent emails but he was a model to deal w/ at purchase.
It is a very good player at a bargain price.  It may lack the resolution of a higher end player in 16 bit but DSD is such a dramatic jump that I hope the format survives.  I am quite satisfied.

I also have a 775 which I bought directly from Matthew. He was brilliant to deal with. He had a few small problems with parts which delayed his shipping it to me by a few days and was very apologetic. He also kept in constant contact with me to let me know how things were going.
As for the machine itself, I have had no trouble with it. The mods were done pre the separate audio board transformer so I may add it. I think my ears are crap as I can't honestly hear the difference between SACD and redbook so maybe my comments on the sound shouldn't be trusted but I really enjoy the unit. I did remove the NJM 2114 op amp myself and replace it with an AD826 chip which I think improved the sound further. I plan to do more inside the machine as time permits also.

I have one of this unit and I'm very pleased with both red book and SACD playback. I ordered the mod kit from Matthew and performed the mod myself. If you're handy with the solder iron, then this is a very simple job.

I sent my 775 to matt with good turn around time, I've
been very satisfied with redbook & SACD sound it's not
up there with the 777ES, but good valve for the money.
I'm using it with a kenwood reeceiver & DIY speakers.

Thanks to all for your quick and thorough replies.
Sounds like Matt really knows what he's doing....

I feel a little silly spending $300-400 on mods for a $150 player, but an excellent digital source for under $600 is pretty nice.

Brad,
Let us know how it goes if you do get it modded.
