Beastie Boys MCA dead at 47

Adam Yauch aka MCA died of cancer. RIP MCA.  :(

 That's actually very sad, these guys were immensely talented and played their instruments as well...
 
 I actually own two of their jazz albums, if you can believe that. No words, just instrumentals.. Guess there won't be any more of those...

 I own License to Ill but don't really own any of their other hip hop albums, they were never my thing, for hip hop.
 
 RIP MCA. What a life that guy must have had.

HUGE talent that will be greatly missed.  I always kind of thought of MCA as the George Harrison of the Beastie Boys.  Loved nearly all the Beastie's music, liked most of the rest.

I read about him having cancer some time ago. Really sad to hear of his passing. He was my age.

the Beastie Boys were the biggest selling hip hop act of the 1980s. i saw them here in MD during the Licenced to ILL Tour.talented and funny too. RIP MCA

Def a ICON in my life. And being only a few yrs younger then Adam  reminds me of how precious our time in this world really is.

I met him briefly, behind the Roseland Ballroom on 53rd St. in Midtown NY, right before he was about to go onstage on the "Check Your Head" tour. He was smoking a cigarette and my girlfriend, who was a huge BB fan, recognized him. I gushed that Paul's Boutique was a masterpiece, etc., and he smiled and said "Thanks, man," way more gracious than he had to be with a raving idiot college kid...  8)

The In Sounds from Way Out is top 10 for me.

I heard it playing in a music store in Hong Kong and immediately bought it, was back in the mid 90's.

The Beastie Boys went to my high school. They graduated a year ahead of me. Run DMC and The Boys were at their most popular during my college years. It makes me feel old. RIP.

Rest in Peace, MCA.

It's amazing how many young people are just dropping like flies.  The brother of one of my best friends just keeled over and died without warning from a heart attack, age 37.
