I have a 1969 Thunderbird, and frequent a number of forums related to all years T Birds.

Those radio's are reputed to look good, but are not frequently recommended around the forums.  Folks have had SQ issues with them.

Perhaps even more folks on forums I don't hang around love them mind you.

I bought a H/U from classic for a '69 Camaro project a couple of years ago. Frankly, it sounded like crap.YMMV.

Sorry to hear that, did you try running it into a better amp and just use the head as a radio and pre?

That was obvious, I asked if you ran it ( the H/U) to a better amp, meaning an external amp and use the H/U only as a preamp and radio?

This thread was useful insomuch that it identified said head units to be good looking, but not good sounding.
